Grafted bougainvillea joins two or more colour varieties onto a single rootstock, so one plant can flower in multiple shades at once, a favourite for anyone who wants maximum colour from a single pot. Own-root bougainvillea is grown from a single cutting of one variety; it’s limited to that one colour, but tends to be hardier and live longer.
